What is a Christian Voter to Do?

Can you hear them?

Can you hear my Christian brothers and sisters grumbling with skepticism as Mitt Romney (the Mormon presidential candidate) woos the conservative Right to support him in his bid for the White House?

Should a good Christian support a good Mormon for president? Some conservatives think so. Check out this report regarding Bob Jones III, who seems to feel that "anyone but Hillary" is worth the risk. Anyone, except for Obama, I guess.

What is a good Christian to do? The paradox here is incredible. Mitt is NOT a Christian. But no other Christian candidates are stepping forward, at least none that have a chance of beating Hillary. Not even Obama.

Meanwhile, the conservative Christians credited with electing W. to office in 2004 may be having a particularly bad day. Not only are they faced with the "Mitt" question; they also have to deal with the fact that our Christian president is making nice with the Dalai Lama.

Yes, my friends, yet another reason to not mix religion and politics.

The kingdom of God is not of this world. The power struggle for the White House is not the ultimate power struggle. If we try to make it THE struggle, we will be sorely disappointed.

What is a good Christian to do?
Maybe that is the wrong question.

What would Jesus do?

Well, Jesus wasn't into earthly kingdoms (which can be quite distracting). Maybe that should serve as a hint to those of us tempted to get consumed with the paradox at hand.
