Christians Should be "Inquiring Minds"

Been a while since I've posted.

I'm thinking about the teaching of Jesus regarding prayer.

In the Sermon on the Mount, he puts a heavy emphasis on praying with the right intent, seeking the Will of God in our lives here on Earth as it is being done in Heaven.

He says we need to ask, seek, and knock. More correctly, he says we need to be asking, seeking, and knocking...............continuously.

We are a quirky lot, we humans. We like instant answers, instant response, instant results to our needs. The cliche "microwave" society is overused for certain. We want outcomes and we want them fast.

But then, we're back wanting more stuff to fill our lives. It's a viscous cycle.

The National Inquirer used to have a slogan on commercials that said "Inquiring minds want to know." While they were going after the gossip market, the Inquirer's motto fits in nicely with the path a growing Christian should consider.

A growing Christian should be one who is constantly inquiring of God. Asking. Seeking. Knocking. Part of healthy spiritual development is this constant "going to God" for provision, guidance, and barrier removal.

It doesn't mean that God will answer to our every beck, call and desire. However, prayerfully seeking God out continuously is something that helps shape us spiritually into His image.

Learning God's will and doing God's will in our lives is a process of constant inquiry, discovery, and obedience. If we're not actively asking, seeking, and knocking (note nagging is not included on this list) then we're setting ourselves up for spiritual stagnation.
