What if Apple Doesn't Give Us the Tablet Today?

Mainstream media is abuzz about Apple's big press conference today.  But what if Apple doesn't deliver the goods today?  What a let down that would be.

I don't think we should fret.  Here's why?

All the buzz is very calculated and being deliberately created by Apple's PR machine.  Today is the climax of months of public relations work that has seeded anticipation not only among Apple geeks, but also among general consumer folks like myself.

If Apple did not have the tablet ready to deliver, the company would be downplaying the speculation so as not to miss expectations.

So fear not.  The fact that Apple is not refuting the speculation is proof positive we will see the long-awaited tablet today.

Will it live up to the hype? Based on my user experience with the iPod Touch, I think Apple can deliver.  They experimented with the "thin" laptop. They have the App Store and iTunes fine-tuned to deliver user customization.  And now we're reading that Apple is negotiating with the media God's to deliver content.

I'll be happy to test the new tablet for Apple, if they just reach out to me and send one my way. I think I can offer a good honest opinion.

My big question right now isn't whether we see the table today. I'm interested to see if Apple makes the iPhone available to Verizon Wireless or other cell phone carriers.

If that happens, it will be double Nirvana.
