How Open is your Theology?

This is a great blog post by one of my former professors, Dr. Thomas J Oord

In my opinion, open and relational evangelical theology is the most practical way to do theology.

In my personal faith journey, I have found the need to reconcile the facts of science and the scientific method with the inerrancy of Scripture. I agree with Dr. Oord's comments:

Open theists appreciate and draw from reason, experience, and the Christian tradition. But open and relational theologians place primary importance on the Bible for things related to God, salvation, and the big questions of life. Scripture is principally authoritative.
Open and relational theists are typically not committed, however, to affirming everything the Bible says about science, history, or culture.

I feel this approach to theology is much more relevant in today's world.  Acknowledging the value and validity of science is a critical factor in holding a legitimate dialogue with non-believers.

An inability to reconcile science with Scripture renders many Christian's as non-credible witnesses to those who cling to the facts of science but who also seek deeper meaning through faith.

.....in my humble opinion....
