So today, I took a day off work and adventured in to the land of 4th graders with my youngest son, Andrew. He was really excited about the day because his birthday is Saturday and he got to celebrate with his class.
Things started off with a bang as Andrew got picked (on the spot) to be one of a handful of kids to go to the office to lead the entire Northwood student body in the Pledge of Allegiance during morning announcements. He also got recognized during announcements for his birthday. (I'm amazed at what a sticker and pencil can do to make a child's day!)
It seems every time I volunteer at Northwood, there is some sort of student assembly. Today did not disappoint as the 3rd graders shared their musical performance with the student body. They were cute.
After a fabulous school lunch in the cafeteria, it was off to recess to play Four Square (not the social media platform--the real game). It was fun getting to know the kids!
Then it was back to class for some more work and Andrew was able to share some Rice Krispy treat goodies with his friends.
All in all, a good day. You can check out my TwitPic feed for a few more photos and commentary.
