This one hits me square between the eyes. My son often has accuses me of being in another world when I get home from work and drop into my Lazy Boy recliner. It's true. The tech can suck you in and be a real impediment to family time.
And I have a feeling it is just as much an issue for kids, with their iPods and laptops, as it is with me.
This is one of the downsides of tech. One that will take some discipline and intentionality to overcome.
