We took a brief jaunt into the the Great Smokey Mountain National Park today.
While most folks come into the park thru Gatlinburg or Townsend, we opted to sneak in at Wears Valley. There is a nice little road that takes you to the Little Brier School.
There is a nice half-mile trail behind the school that we hiked. Its not to bad. The trail takes you across a few narrow footbridges, up a hill and you wind up on the main stream that runs from Gatlinburg to Cades Cove. You can cross a footbridge to a picnic area. It's a pretty cool trail because we found some unique vegetation on the path that I've not seen this far north.
One of the great things about the Smokies is the variety of new little places like this that you can find.
Afterwards, we had a picnic and headed back to the cabin for some AC.
