THE OFFICIAL DESCRIPTION


Job Description:
Provide PR support for Nationwide’s Office of the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), including financial reporting, thought leadership, and reputation management.  This individual is responsible for external communications support for the Finance organization and also will collaborate closely with internal communications to provide counsel and support for the delivery of communications content to internal, associate-based audiences. Position will report to AVP of Public Relations in Corporate Communications.
Core Duties and Responsibilities:
1.      Plan, develop, execute, and measure PR support for Nationwide’s quarterly operating results (20 percent)

2.      Plan, develop, execute, and measure ongoing national PR campaign for Office of the Chief Economist, including coordination of social media, blogs and other non-traditional communications channels. (65 percent)

3.      Plan, develop, execute, and measure external reputation support for issues relating to the Office of the CFO (ratings updates, business development activity, etc.). (15 percent)

4.      Partner with internal communications client manager supporting the CFO and the Office of the CFO.

5.      Manage demanding clients while driving meaningful PR results that are aligned to the overall corporate PR strategy.

6.      The candidate will be responsible for managing and expanding an established high-profile, national media relations campaign for the Office of the Chief Economist, promoting Nationwide’s brand and reputation.

7.      The candidate will also successfully be able to be agile in a complex organization, collaborating with peers, effectively counseling clients, and producing results that support and align to the organization’s mission and vision.

8.      Will perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Job Requirements:
1.      Education:  Undergraduate degree in Public Relations, Journalism, or Communications. Business communications background preferred.

2.      Experience: 7 - 10 years experience in public relations with a track record of producing national results on a regular basis.

3.      Skills and Competencies: Demonstrate strong client management and counseling skills; strong writing and editing skills, fluent with AP writing style; proven ability to partner/collaborate in a matrix environment; strong ability to manage/co-ordinate PR agency resources; strong social media acumen; strong critical-thinking and problem-solving skills; proven ability to effectively create, manage, and track budgets; frequent travel required to facilitate media tours and support PR events, strong understanding of insurance and financial services industry/products, financial reporting, and macro-economics, ability to collaborate with internal communications, general counsel, business unit, marketing and finance partners

4.      Values: Regularly and consistently demonstrates Nationwide values and guiding behaviors.

5.      Staffing exceptions:  Staffing exceptions to the above Minimum Job Requirements must be approved by the VP of Corporate Communications and the HR executive. Role will not directly support Nationwide Realty Investors.
Job Conditions:
1.      Overtime Eligibility:  Not eligible (exempt)

2.      Working Conditions:  Normal office environment. Extended work hours may be necessary during work periods of heavier volume of work. Travel required as necessary.

3.      Salary:  H band, based on experience
